Cora Hallsworth

Cora has over 20 years experience advancing community and organizational sustainability. She has worked on award winning plans, and has initiated and led numerous sustainability initiatives and is an advisor on municipal, regional and corporate climate action and sustainability programs. Cora has extensive background in climate action, sustainable consumption and materials management. She has served on numerous boards and advisory groups, including most recently the Capital Regional District Roundtable on the Environment. Cora was also the founder and past President of Connecting Environmental Professionals in Vancouver. She is now Principal of her own consulting practice; part-time manager of Ecocity Initiatives for the BCIT Centre for Ecocities; and is a Senior Associate with One Earth.

Cora currently leads three progressive sustainability initiatives: the Greater Victoria 2030 District, which has engaged leading property managers in creating a hub of high performing buildings; One Planet Saanich which engages businesses, community organizations and schools in developing ‘One Planet Living’ sustainability actions plans; and the Ecocity Peer Network which is helping BC local governments understand and act on their ‘consumption-based’ emissions and ecological footprints. 

Ryan Mackie

Ryan has nearly 20 years of experience developing technology and working with organizations on sustainable solutions. For over 10 years, he developed renewable energy systems for Ballard Power Systems. Since leaving Ballard, he has been consulting on community sustainability. Ryan has an extensive background in renewable technologies, mathematical modelling, research and analysis. He is currently serving on the Transportation Access, Climate and Economic Security Community Advisory Committee for the Capital Region and the Embodied Emissions Advisory Committee for the communities of Whistler, Squamish and Squamish Nation.

He is a part-time Technical Lead for the BCIT Centre for Ecocities and is a Senior Associate with Green Spark. He currently leads development and application of tools for community and individual carbon footprint analysis. 

Associates

Samantha Agtarap, P.Eng.

Samantha is a Professional Engineer with a wide range of experience, primarily focusing on energy and the environment. She has over fifteen years of experience working with clients to translate complex technical information into reports and plans for a broad range of audiences. Her consulting work spans a breadth of experience; Samantha has worked with Indigenous communities, local and provincial governments and private organizations on climate action planning (mitigation and adaptation), developing strategies to advance sustainability objectives.

Her core strengths include the ability to synthesize and analyze a variety of information to develop strategies and business cases while ensuring that key messages are conveyed clearly.

Trevor Barry, B.Sc.

Trevor is a carbon accounting and GHG inventories specialist with training from the Canadian Standards Association in ISO-14064. He studied environmental and atmospheric chemistry at the University of British Columbia, with a minor in Canadian history focussed on small towns and resource economies. After that he studied urban geography and public administration at the University of Victoria, and is a graduate of the SFU City program. He studied sustainable development, mobility and land-use planning, and low-carbon transportation under Gordon Price, as well as instructors Larry Beasley, Brent Toderian and Todd Litman.

Trevor brings nearly two decades of public service experience, chiefly at the BC Climate Action Secretariat working on policies such as the Community Energy & Emissions Inventory (CEEI), Carbon Neutral Government, and as a senior economic advisor on CleanBC climate investments. In the community, Trevor volunteers on many society boards and local committees, such as Active Transportation.

Ahbik Bera

Abhik is a microgrid solutions architect and energy management specialist. Abhik is dedicated to finding innovative ways to build a clean energy future and tackle climate change. With 12 years of progressive expertise executing energy infrastructure projects globally, Abhik is an expert in project management, feasibility studies, conceptualization, coordinating project estimates, risk assessments and technical drawings for small and large capital projects. He is adept in consistently analyzing real-time project data for informed decision-making and improvement of project execution.

With CHRM, Abhik’s work focuses on analysis of sustainability metrics like consumption-based greenhouse gas emissions (operational and embodied emissions) and the ecological footprint.

Versha Rangaswamy

Versha is a results-driven and resourceful professional with over five years of experience delivering technical projects in engineering and project management roles. She is passionate about executing projects to advance clean energy and climate action. Versha is skilled at working in a challenging, fast-paced, and complex environment with cross-functional teams.
