Greater Victoria 2030 District wins Climate & Energy Action Award

The District of Saanich and the City of Victoria have been recognized for their role in creating the Greater Victoria 2030 District by the Community Energy Association. They received the 2022 Climate & Energy Action Award in the Community Planning & Development category at the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Convention in Whistler on September 15, 2022.

2022 REFBC Land Awards

The Greater Victoria 2030 District is a finalist for the 2022 Real Estate Foundation of BC Land Awards. Established in 2010, the biennial awards program celebrates big ideas and bold leadership in sustainable, equitable, and socially just land use and real estate practices across BC. The Land Awards recognize outstanding projects, including in the Built Environment category, and standout leaders that are working to build healthy, resilient, and inclusive communities and protect our shared land and water. Project award nominations were judged by volunteer committees of subject matter experts. The judges considered the creativity, impact, collaboration, engagement, and future of each project. Winners will be announced at a gala event on June 9th.

Greater Victoria 2030 District – Inaugural Report

The inaugural Greater Victoria 2030 District annual report celebrates the progress of the property managers and buildings participating in the District. This is Canada’s second 2030 District, joining 22 other leading communities in North America.

The Greater Victoria 2030 District brings together major property managers in the region to work towards a shared objective to significantly reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, while also advancing energy affordability and resilience benefits. In so doing, the 2030 District is evolving to be a hub of high-performing buildings, transforming the built environment and the role it plays in mitigating and adapting to climate change.
